Abbey of St. Florian – This is a baroque abbey or monastery in upper Austria specifically in the town of Sankt Florian. Founded in the early part of the ninth century, this Augustinian monastery is the largest in the area and boasts of impressive Baroque architecture. The grave of St. Florian is located beneath the abbey.
Wachau region – This region is popular for its wines particularly the dry type. It is located along the Danube River and enjoys a mild climate. The Wachau Valley is also a UNESCO cultural heritage site which makes it a great cycling destination.
Abbey of Melk – The Melk Abbey is beautifully situated in the town of Melk in Lower Austria (between Salzburg and Vienna) overlooking the Danube River. This Benedictine abbey has been a spiritual and cultural center for more than 1,000 years now.
Durnstein – Durnstein is a small town along the Danube River in Lower Austria and is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the Wachau region. It is here where one can find the ruins where King Richard the Lionhearted was captured on his way back from the crusades.
Old Town of Krems – This old town maybe small but it has a rich history and boasts of impressive architecture. Although it was merged with Stein in the past, it is an independent town.
