Game City in Vienna

This October, Vienna will turn into a Game City as it once again hosts the yearly Vienna Games Conference. For this year, the 8th games fair will carry the theme “Future and Reality of Gaming” or FROG14 and is scheduled on October 10-12.

Expected to grace this event are representatives of the games industry, non-profit organizations, academic, international experts, scientists and more than 60,000 visitors.

Well known exhibitors that will be taking part are some of the world’s biggest game publishers who will be showcasing their new PC and console games. To give you an idea, Nintendo will present the latest version of its Mario Cart Electr.onic Arts while Microsoft and Sony will introduce their new Xbox and Play Station 4 games.

To take place at the Vienna Town Hall covering an area of 5,000 square feet, this major gaming event aims to bridge the recent scientific insights into gaming, game culture and the general public and will discuss the present state of computer games, digital youth cultures and games research. Specific topics to be tackled as well are games for health, cyber bulling and ethics in games.

Serious gamers and those who are still starting out can check out the Black Rooms for teens aged 16 to 18. There will also be a kids zone called wienXtra where kids aged four to 12 years old can invent games and programs.
