The Twin Towers

Malaysia may have its famous Petronas twin towers but Vienna cannot be outdone. The Austrian capital has also its Vienna Twin Towers situated in Favoriten’s Wienerberg City in the 10th district and the tallest in the quarter.

Designed by Italy’s well known star architect Massimiliano Fuksas, the building which features an all-glass facade is considered the symbol of Wienerberg. It was built starting in 1999 and was completed in 2001. The building forms part of the Business Park Vienna where most offices in the southern part of Vienna are located and offers a 360 degree panoramic view from the Stephansdom area to the Schneeberg.

Measuring 126 meters and 138 meters tall respectively, the two buildings are interconnected with numerous glass bridges. It houses some 50,000 square meters of office space, a multiplex cinema with 10 screen movie theaters and a total of  2,350 seats operated by Kieft + Kieft Filmtheater GmbH as well as shops, cafes and restaurants in the basement. The garage part has 1,000 parking areas.

The taller building features 37 floors while the other structure has 35 floors. This joint project initiated by Wienerberger and Immofinanz was worth ATS 1.5 billion.
